A Change in Attitude Has Made All The Difference: from Cancer Survivor to Amazon Woman!
For the past eight months I've labeled myself as a cancer survivor with a left breast mastectomy. I tried to find the appropriate substitute for my mamory gland, but there was no replacement for my former perfect 38Ds.
I was also faced with the issue of an appropriate hairdo. After four cancer operations (three major and one reincision), my hair had grown extremely thin. The December 2011 mastectomy was such a shock to my system that my hair fell out in glumps. Hair weaving and braiding was no longer an option. I decided to wear wigs. Underneath all that artificial hair, I felt a "real, new and improved me" screaming to emerge.
I shared my inner secret with one of my best friends, Mary, and she came up with a perfect solution. She suggested I research the history of the Amazon Warrior Woman, and I would be surprized with what I would find. She was right! The Amazon Warrior Woman was a unique member of the female species. She was trained in the art of weaponry.
These specialized weapons were customized to fit the female warrior's anatomy, with one major adjustment: her left breast was removed to accommodate the heavy, dangerous battle tools. The "mastectomy" was necessary to provide balance during battle.
And with this information, I made a major attitude adjustment. I no longer am a cancer survivor with a left breast mastectomy. I am Sandra the Amazon Warrior Woman! Unlike my ancestors, I do not need the battle weapons of swords and daggers. Instead, I am armed with faith, love, compassion, knowledge and a bunch of chutzpah. My enemy is cancer. Armed with my knowledge of nutrition and cancer-fighting remedies, I help my clients understand how to move forward and not be "captive" by the disease.
To all my sisters battling this disease, remember we are a new breed of Amazon Warrior Women.
