"Mary Had A Little Lamb"

I am extremely excited today because my mastectomy inserts arrived from Switzerland. They are made of organic wool, and are very soothing and soft to the skin ... almost nurturing.

People ask me why I declined the reconstructive surgery that is part of my mastectomy package. Even the plastic surgeon was a bit stunned when I told him I preferred to live the rest of my life with inserts.  Why?

I already endured three major breast cancer operations (including the mastectomy) and one reincision. My entire chest area, starting from my left armpit to the right armpit, has been severely radiated from my 2000 and 2004 treatments. Basically, radiated skin is "dead" tissue that has lost its elasticity.

My plastic surgeon explained that consequently I cannot have the traditional breast reconstruction. He did offer me a suggestion. After a six month healing period, the plastic surgeon could then perform a painful and serious operation. This procedure would involve skin and tissue be removed from my abdominal area, and then used for the new breast. There would be a high risk of infection on a procedure that may not work.

I decided to decline the reconstructive surgery, and went on a search for something involving NO PAIN! I researched a variety of prosthetics and inserts, and then I came across a wonderful product from Switzerland that is made of organic wool.

It appears very natural.  In fact earlier today I went to the grocery store, and I noticed a few silver-haired devils checking out my perfect pair of "38 D's".  I am thrilled with this very simple solution to a potentially difficult issue.

My only problem is this: I lost my appetite for lamb chops.
